Interior Designer

Are you an experienced Interior Designer? Does the opportunity to build and lead a design program excite you? Are you looking to help a company grow bigger and better? We’re looking for a passionate and excited Interior Designer who is detail oriented to provide our team and clients with computer drafted drawings.

Thayer Construction is a design build home remodeler located in Corvallis Oregon. We design, manage, and construct residential remodeling projects. We are looking for an in office Interior Designer, however you will also be meeting with clients in person on site.

We do a range of projects. From smaller projects like kitchens, bathrooms, bearing wall removals on up to larger projects such as total basement remodels and whole home interior and exterior renovations.

This is a job for a seasoned designer. We are looking for someone who has great experience with client relationships and project management from start to finish. We want someone who makes clean but detailed plans and knows about finishes and fixtures to tell our clients just what they need in their new space.

We’ve been doing design-build for a while now and are ready to bring the program in house and build a design studio. This means you will be responsible for the very beginning stages of this new job. We want someone who is confident in their abilities and has great knowledge of the construction and design industry.

This is a leadership position that offers the responsibility of autonomy and freedom of choice. You’ll need to confidently lead the client from the initial meeting all the way to signing a construction contract. You’ll be meeting with clients in person whether at their house or in the office.

Duties entail:

  • Accompany initial consultations with clients to gather information and provide input on potential projects.
  • Understand and recommend design styles that accomplish the client’s goals and preferences.
  • Create accurate construction drawings for client approval and estimating.
  • Work with clients through selecting and specifying products.
  • Manage the Client relationship from sale to completion and be available to answer any questions.
  • Obtain estimates from subcontractors and vendors.
  • Everything else needed to get a construction planned and off the ground!

Requirements:

  • At least 3 years of drafting and interior designing experience.
  • Experience in drawing kitchens and bathrooms.
  • Experience with and knowledge of design programs of choice.
  • Knowledge of home construction and building codes.
  • Must have good communication, job coordination, and supervisory skills.
  • Organizational skills to ensure deadlines are met.
  • Must maintain a professional image, demonstrate a high level of integrity and confidentiality.
  • The ability to interact and communicate with crews, subcontractors and clients is crucial to this position.
  • Experience in Chief Architect Software preferred (hand drawing is not enough!)

Project Manager

Do you have solid construction experience in residential remodeling? Are you someone who can manage and lead a team? Are you looking for a company that is growing and is dedicated to quality craftsmanship? We are looking for an on-site project manager who can help our family-owned company keep growing. 

Thayer Construction is a design build home remodeler located in Corvallis Oregon. We design, manage, and construct residential remodeling projects including rough carpentry and finish work. This ranges from smaller projects like kitchens, bathrooms, bearing wall removals on up to larger projects such as total basement remodels and whole home interior and exterior renovations. We’ve been in business for 5 years and like to think we’re just getting started. 

We need a bags-on project manager to carry out our remodel projects, someone with an eye for crafting beautiful spaces. We need someone who cares about the clients as much as we do. We’re looking for someone who is dedicated to high standards of client satisfaction, and to run a safe job site. We need someone who has great leadership and communication skills. You’ll be managing our most critical relationships: our team, subs, and clients.

All our work is custom and we need someone who is self-directed and a great problem solver. We do our best to give our clients an amazing experience – with clear communication, attention to detail, and clean worksites. We value high levels of craftsmanship and personal accountability. 

Your goal is to create a work environment that our team and subs enjoy working in and keep our clients happy and informed. From project handoff by Production Manager to project completion, you are the point of contact.

Responsibilities:

  • Understand residential systems, codes, and order of operations.
  • Rough and finish carpentry, cabinetry, roofing, siding, windows and door installation, flooring, drywall finishing, paint, tile, basic understanding of plumbing, electrical, HVAC, and natural gas.
  • Must be able to perform multiple tasks at construction sites that require extensive physical labor, including lifting, climbing, bending, digging, and operating hand and power tools for 8–10 hours a day. 
  • Able to lift 60 lbs. Repeatedly.
  • Interacting with clients on a daily basis in person and through text/email.
  • Adjusting schedule with subcontractors
  • Keep job sites efficient, organized, and clean

Requirements:

  • 2+ years in a similar position.
  • 1+ Years experience supervising others preferred.
  • Valid driver’s license, insurance, and clean driving record.
  • Reliable vehicle (after a period of time we can discuss a company vehicle).
  • Provide your own basic carpentry tools.
  • An eye for crafting beautiful spaces.
  • Great at managing organized and clean worksites.
  • Enjoy interacting with clients.
  • Experience motivating a team.
  • Must be able to read plans and build them.
